Henna Art

Historically, henna was used for cosmetic purposes in the Roman Empire, as well as other parts of North Africa. It was also popular among women in 19th-century Europe. Today, bridal henna nights remain a tradition in many Asian Wedding.

Shamim is a freelance henna artist with her own artistic personality. We love the work influenced by style and culture. Below is some of her work.

The perfect pair of heels, really?

I brought these heels last June as a treat for myself and don't get me wrong I love them but these aren't your average everyday heels made for everyone!
Court Glitter High Heels

I found myself only wearing these a handful of times (at weddings of course, where else could I keep up the bling!) I brought these at their original retail price of £65 which at the time I thought was worth it.

They won't be very comfortable to someone who is not use to a 6" inch (thank god I am!) but i'm sure you could get used to them in time. I suggest buying them now whilst they're on sale! (£44.99)

Mumtaz Collection Custom Jewellery

We at Oozes Couture love to see pride taken in building something unique, this clip shows some custom jewellery as soon as we saw this clip, it oozed class, we could tell there was a custom twist to each piece.

After a little digging around we discovered they are based in Birmingham on Highgate Road. Speclising in offering customised jewellery and bridal accesories made from Swarovski crystals.
The main reason we felt is deserved a mention was due to each peice being hand made in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. (we all know how renowed birmingham is for its jewellery quarter)

I will be paying them a visit the next time im around Birmingham.

Christmas Special - Jute & Juco eco bags

Weekend Custom Couture Accessories  - As soon as I saw the Pakistan Fashion Week Edition of this Jute & Juco eco bag I had to find out who makes these and give it a special feature on our blog.

Jute & Juco PFW3 Bag
Its easy to see this is as RAW as it gets, an actual real person would have put their heart and mind into designing these amazing accessories. You will know I'm not a fan of mass produced machined products, which makes owning such a design that extra bit rewarding.

Ladies if you are anything like me, you will love the ability to request endless possibilities of adding,  Swarovski Crystals, Sequins, flowers and bows to your bags. The bags are all hand painted and personalised by name, hair style/colour and eye colour. I can tell from the photos below each bag is uniquely made and there is little chance someone else will have the exact same design.

The Stylish Art of Calligraphy

Calligraphy graces the walls of many homes, restaurants and museums in the modern day. It holds the power to instantly beautify a name or a phrase, by simply adding an artistic touch.

The art of calligraphy originated from Ancient Egypt, where pictures began evolving
into symbols. There are many debates as to whether china and Greece are also possible
countries of origin. It was in 35BC, where people began inscribing onto stone, wood or wax. Due to experiments, different styles developed including; slanted writing, the flowing loop and an effect created by not lifting the pen of the page.

A picture I created to show how calligraphy can be interpreted into fashion.

Calligraphy by  Shafina Majid  @shaf_15
 My main area of interest lies within Arabic calligraphy. This is where Islamic quotes and phrases are decorated in such an artistic way using the Arabic language. I have come across many pieces that not only contain the phrase or word, but also hold an image that the words create. By cleverly using the words in the correct places an image is formed. For example;
Calligraphy peacock

Calligraphy has created its own fashion as people have interpreted it into artwork and continue to do so on a daily basis. A modern example of this is how it has become more common to use calligraphy style writing to enhance names on canvases. This can add an elegant touch to a bedroom or dining room.

I would also highly recommend this as a perfect gift idea for people of any age or race

Personally, I believe the idea of artistic and cultural writing merging to create sophisticated pieces of work,  “Oozes Couture”

What exactly do you mean by “Oozes Couture”?

Welcome to Oozes Couture!

It all starts here, pride of place to highly fashionable custom-made clothing and accessories.

Our blog concentrates on two key fundamentals

Oozes - To emit a particular essence or quality
Couture - The art and practice of custom dressmaking and designing.

Our review categories are simple “It Oozes Couture” or “It doesn’t Ooze Couture”

Feel free to participate and share your opinions! We all love a good gossip. Look out for the occasional blog entry by some of our powerful key fashion moguls.
