I have nothing to wear!

All of us ladies(and some gents) have said this. When in all honesty, we have plenty to wear. I do this too often and really why? I think it's easily broken down into two categories. I believe there's a certain level of situational appropriateness you should meet and the other reason is we see nothing in our wardrobe the conveys the emotion we strive to walk away with.

For instance, if you follow me on Twitter(@GildaRedFashion), then you know I have a sailing event for work coming up on Monday. I have never been sailing and I am as graceful as a bobble head. I am pretty sure this event will leave everyone at work with the snapshot of me falling into the water and blowing the life vest whistle for dear life. ("Did Something Just Brush up against my leg?") With that said, I immediately went to the fact I have nothing AT ALL with any nautical flare captured. There's plenty of other looks I could go for, but none I feel would be appropriate. So, I immediately went shopping and let me tell you, in the summer, it is very easy to find nautical everything.

I personally love to walk away with a unique flare and I don't want to look like the masses and trust me, nautical chic is what everyone will be aiming for, so I decided to design my own tee and accessories. Also, If I can make anyone laugh(emotion card-there it is), I feel as if my day's work has been accomplished, so I aimed for nautical fashion meets hilariousness. I don't want to show the whole tee on here as of yet, but here is the front left chest:If you know of the movie, What About Bob, then you know where the saying comes from. This is just an example of one time I have been faced with the WTW predicament.

Everyone in today's society strives to stand out which can be very hard when you are no longer just trying to be the girl in the room that seems as if she has a spotlight following her, but now trying to be that same girl in the thousands of social media sites(profile pics, event pics, and selfies-oh my)--It's a hard task. In the end, if we remember-it's okay to recycle outfits, but it's also okay to go buy that new outfit that makes you feel as if you are Ms. Carrie Bradshaw striking your heels against the pavement. Until next time, Let your Fashionista Flag Fly, my friends!

Real Bride - Sharn

So it’s my big day next year and I’ve started to think about my shopping trip to India next year (well I’ve been thinking of my dream bridal lengha all my life but now it’s actually real!) where I will be on a journey to find my dream lengha.

I think sometimes when I have attended fashion shows in the UK you do get a mix of random bridal pieces with bizarre colours and embroidery, which I think for me, isn’t realistic for my big day. I want to look and feel like a queen on my big day, not wear some fusion type bridal piece and my guests look at me and think eh? Is that the bride?

So I’ve been scouring the internet and bridal magazines to find those designers which will fit my dreamy vision for my bridal lengha.
Asian Bridal Magazines Oozes Couture
Bridal Magazines
Like any bride I have my couture crush’s and I will definitely be visiting their flagship stores to find my dream lengha. Take a look for yourself below...

First up, Manish Malhotra. I adore his bridal pieces, they always have the right amount of glitz and glamour and they are never too simple in design.
Sabyasachi.  This name is probably coming out of your ears right now but there is just something special when you see a Sabyasachi piece. In terms of his design he has unusual fabrics, texturing and detailing along with embellishments always in a vibrant colour. He has a bridal store in Kolkata which I am dying to visit, it’s on the list for next year.

Jade Couture. I stumbled across their website a few weeks ago and I was instantly blown away. The Jade bridal heirloom collection looks SOOO dreamy on their website. The designers Karishma and Monica only launched their collection in 2008 so they are still relatively new to the bridal designer scene; nonetheless I am a big fan of their distinctively different style and they are on the list to visit when I go to India next year.
Tarun Tahiliani. Again another designer name you have probably heard a million times over but oh I just can’t help it, his designs are fabulous! I attended a wedding earlier this year and the bride wore TT and let me tell you something, we were all wowed by her lengha and bridal look – even the males in the family said so, now that’s saying something!

Kisneel by Pam Mehta. I came across this gem of a designer this morning and again was wowed by her collection. Her pieces have a great deal of embellishments such as crystals and stones and each look is completed with gold and silver threading. Simply swoon-worthy!

Favourite Mac Lipsticks

My all-time favourite Mac lipsticks

MAC lipsticks have always been my favourite ever since I bought my first ever lip product from the MAC counters aged 15. I haven’t looked back since! Beautiful textures and abstract colours at mainly affordable prices have ensured that MAC products remain my fave! Enjoy my top 5 MAC lipsticks and let me know which brands/colours are your fave so I can try them ;-)

Disclaimer: Some lipsticks stated below (*) are matte lipsticks so use a lip balm before applying to avoid your lips from drying out.

1. Heroine

This beautiful shade of deep purple looks amazing as an accessory for a night on the town. Its almost gothic look and smooth application makes for an easy way to glamourize any outfit. It may be summer, but I have a feeling this colour will be a classic.

2. Neon Orange

Orange is a colour that can be rare to pull off. The neon orange lipstick is a beautiful colour, but usually looks better when used for adding a pop of colour in a stark outfit, as opposed to matching to the said outfit. Use wisely and the neon orange lipstick could brighten up your summer!

3. Hot Tahiti

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love nude lipsticks. However, for some reason I much prefer them in the winter. For a twist on the classic nude lipstick, Hot Tahiti is the perfect replacement! Compliments almost any outfit, which is perfect for the lip shade that requires minimal thought, (perfect when you’re rushing around / getting late!)

4. Relentlessly Red

Every girl needs a red lipstick in her make-up bags. Not everyone suits red, which is absolutely fine, but any kind of red (especially Relentlessly Red) adds a pop of colour to any outfit. For the girls who don’t like bright red lipstick, it is a more subtle shade of pink with undertones of coral.

5. Flat Out Fabulous

I’ve saved my most favourite lipstick until last! I love this shade of pink; it’s an ultimate summer colour being bright and the ability to look glam without looking OTT. The shade could differ according to your skin colour (some people have said it looks like a bright fuchsia, whereas others have mentioned plum undertones). However, one thing I can guarantee is the name is a true reflection of how it makes you look and feel – FLAT OUT FABULOUS!

Key Trends

Great news, ladies! It’s safe to say that there are some fabulous trends around this summer! This means that every single one of us will be able to work some of these trends in to our wardrobe without too much effort

I’m going to show you three of my favourite looks so far, which I’ve tried to make as different as possible. You are forewarned that I am sticking to the high street and there are a lot of New Look and Topshop pieces! Both stores have brilliant collections this season – particularly on accessories – and I for one can’t wait to hit the sales!

First of all, bold prints and bright colours are a huge hit this summer.  They're fun, brave and they take a fair amount of confidence to pull off.  If you love experimenting with new styles and colour, you'll probably feel right at home here.

These patterned leggings, £30.00 from Topshop, work perfectly with a block coloured top like this one, £4.99 from Mango. This look is ideal if the sun is already shining but here in the UK we sadly have no guarantee.  So you can add a few bursts of colour to this outfit with some bright accessories to really stand out!

If you need an extra layer with this outift, this leather look jacket for £29.99 at H&M really works.

I've also found a perfect little denim gillet for £45.00 at Miss Selfridge, which is one of the more expensive pieces here.  Denim is a staple though, so it’s often worth splashing out on a few nicer items.

Thanks for reading and Happy Shopping! :)

Last but definitely not the least, Forum Des Halles shopping center, it is impossible to write about shopping in Paris and not include this stop. Not only focused on luxury and exclusive items, this Parisian mall includes many stores in the mid-range as well. One thing for sure, this mall will always top the list where convenience and variety is concerned. Zara, Sephora, Swarovski… you name it, you get it.
